How we look after your details
What the club asks for when you sign up, why it asks, how long the details are kept and how you can ask us to forget them.
How Drop Bear Squad handles personal information
Who is responsible
The operator named on the About page and in the footer is responsible for the personal information collected through this site. Day-to-day care of that information rests with the volunteers who run the club, and only the people described on the About page ever see it. We handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, in plain terms and with as little collection as possible.
Why we may use it
We use your details only because you have offered them and agreed to their use. When you tick the consent box on the sign-up form, you ask us to contact you about your first night and to keep you informed about the club. If you withdraw that consent, we stop. Nothing else we do depends on it, and nothing about your place in the club changes.
Cookies and similar storage
This site keeps two small notes in your browser, one for your age confirmation and one for your cookie choice, and it loads a Google map on the contact page. The cookies page lists each of them by name, says what it is for and explains how long it lasts. Please read that page alongside this one.
Keeping it safe
Sign-up details are seen only by the mentors and moderators who need them, and they are kept on password-protected accounts rather than on paper left lying about in the club room. We do not share your details with any other organisation. If we ever notice that something has gone wrong, we will tell the people affected promptly and plainly.
Asking about your information
To see what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted, write to hello@dropbearsquad.com. Cassandra answers these requests personally, usually within a few days, and confirms in writing when a request has been completed. If you feel a concern has not been handled properly, you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
What the forms collect
The sign-up form asks for your name, an email address, the kind of games you enjoy and your agreement to be contacted. A nickname and a few words about yourself are optional. We do not ask for your home address, your birth date or any identification. Nicknames and photographs from club nights are used only with the agreement of the person concerned.
What we use it for
Your details are used to reply to your sign-up, to arrange your first night, to seat you with other newcomers and to tell you about the weekly program. They are not used to build profiles, to target advertising or to make decisions about you by automated means. We keep them while you take part and for twelve months afterwards, then delete them.
Changes to this page
If the way we handle information changes, we will update this page and, where the change matters to you, tell members through the chat server and by email. The page you are reading always describes the arrangements in force today.
